A song you think everyone should hear
Can I rub you the wrong way for a moment? Truthfully, I don’t need your permission. If you’re still reading, I’ll consider that consent.
On Day 23, I must choose a song that I think everyone should listen to. I’ll do my best to set this one up so you can understand me. You might be offended. That’s the bottom line. Pastor Troy’s “Vica Versa” will undoubtedly challenge the more traditional, Christian ways of thinking. On this record, Pastor Troy threatens to make you use your time. Then, he makes good on that threat by turning your world upside down.
My selection for today isn’t designed to ask you to abandon your faith, or to make you feel silly for having faith at all. Frankly, I don’t think that was even the intent of the song. The fact that I’ve never heard a version of the song that doesn’t scratch-edit his mention of The Virgin Mary serves as proof. I simply this everyone should hear this song because it actually does open up your mind, and forces you to ask yourself, “What if heaven was hell?” Hit play, and listen with an open mind. Be prepared to replay this record a few times. After more than 15 years, I still have to run it back a time or two after every listen.
